Hi all.
Im in the market for a new cd player. I currently have the new Pioneer A-AJ-A9 amplifier.
My budget is around the £500 mark.

I have been looking at Pioneers matching CD\SACD player the D9. Also being tempted ny the NAD C565BEE. Have any of you guys any experience of these cd players?

What other players are recommended at this price range.

Thanks

When you say get a 'used player' do you mean get one off ebay or if not where else?

Thanks

Your local HiFi dealers will likely have used equipment as well as ex-demo stuff, you could also google 'hifi wigwam', but eBay can be good for hifi.

Then depending on how long you have you could try HERE

Just read a review of the CD player in Hi-Fi World. Providing you use the "Legato Link" and the "Pure Audio Mode" when replaying cd it is a very good cd player as well as offering SACD stereo replay which is a great bonus to have. HFW even went as far as to recommend it in monitoring systems. It is very clear and reveals detail in the Music very well. They also tried the Roksan Kandy K2 cd player. This was also very highly recommended but because it "throws" the performance at you in a natural, rhythmic way. It also gets better the more expensive the rest of the system.

I would go for a used Arcam Alpha 5 from ebay (for around £50 - £100 max)

and then get the Avondale upgrade done for £450.

My friend has one and it really is out of this world.

The only problem with older CD players is making sure spares and replacement transports are still available in case they go pop.
