hi,

i have a low end dvd player in my bedroom, i think its a pioneer dv300.

with certain discs the whole unit vibrates quite heavily which creates a buzzing noise loud enough to ruin watching a film.

it only does it with the occasional disc though. e.g. a rented dvd i got at the weekend will cause the vibration every time but my own films [put in either side of the rental] will not.

is this a fault on the disc itself and if so can i rectify it?

Badly handled and uncared for discs sounds like the problem. The transports in the Pioneer will be quite good considering but won't be the quality of their better players. There is a reason why these players are cheap.

seems to be rental dvd's that do it so you're probably right. i spent ages last night trying a certain disc [the lives of others, which i've been waiting ages for]before giving up.
