Looking to buy a tv tomorrow and after reading a few mags have narrowed it down to 3:

Panasonic TH-42PZ85 plasma at £880
Panasonic TX-37LZD85 LCD at £790
Pioneer KRL37V LCD at £899

I've had a look at both Panasonics this afternoon but have only seen the Pioneer on Richersounds.co.uk

Don't know much about tellys- I'd be interested to know what the consensus is.

Thanks

Andrew

Dunno much about those models but I would not give LCD house room. Plasma all the way for me Pioneer if cash is not an issue after that Pannasonic is the best. All IMHO

After looking at the 2 LCDs you mention I bought a Panasonic 37" plasma. I just don't like the picture on the LCDs, no matter how you fiddle with the settings they either look washed out or eye-wateringly bright.

I would have gone for the 42" plasma if I had the room for it.

We have, after much deliberation, a TH-42PZ85B and are very pleased with it (less so with the combined efforts of the Richer Sounds/ City Link delivery experience, nothing serious, just irritating, and it arrived ok in the end, which is the main thing). HD pictures are, obviously, very good, but it is also very good with digital TV through the built-in tuner. We found that not all new TVs we looked at were as good as our old CRT set for day-to-day viewing.

I don't know how significant the "B" is.

Thanks all for your input. In the end I bought the 42" plasma Viera 85B and a Pioneer BDP-51 Blu-Ray player. What a combo. I'm well impressed with both units.

Just got to get surround sound sorted now.

The 'B' stands for British market btw.
