I posted this in P&P and then discovered this forum so apologies for any duplication;

I'm looking to upgrade to Sky+ but as I also need a new DVD player would I be better off instead spending my money on a DVD HD recorder? If so can anyone recommend one - especially blu-ray compatible?
Or would I be better off going for the Sky+ and just getting a normal HiDef upscaling DVD player?

Not fussed about having the best around - just want decent affordable (& user friendly) quality.

Finally is Blu-Ray worth the extra outlay? Most I've seen have been 1080 upscaling but there is a Panasonic home cinema system I like the look of http://www.digitaldirect.co.uk/search-sc+bt100e but it's twice the price of a similar non-blue ray set up.

If you have a HD set take a look at Sky HD. They're doing the boxes for £49 at the moment!

Sky+ will probably be far easier to use than a DVD recorder with a hard drive, and the series link function is extremely helpful.

Sky+ all the way. Its an excellent piece of kit IMO.

As for Blu-ray I thought I read somewhere that its dead in the water and people shouldnt invest in it.
