I've noticed in the last few days that some channels are automatically switching to 4:3 whereas before everything displayed as 16:9. Im sure this is not the tv. Anyone else noticed this?

Some digging around, I read on a forum that loads of people has this issue last year then it went away so sky monkeys must be tooling around with our boxes.

My TV does this (old sky digi box so not sure about +), it was that the TV was set to WSS (?) and needed to be put into normal mode everytime it was turned on or input was changed!

My new HD box plays the Simpsons in 4:3 HD, and 16:9 SD confused

I used to have the TV set to "Smart" mode, but that now zooms it right it, so I leave the TV on "Wide", and the Sky box sorts it., but does do some wierd things.

ETA - but he good thing is though Sky HD is now 1080p.

Mine is the same!

Started doing it about a week or so ago. Its only on certain channels, but will do it as i scroll through. I then have to reset to 16:9.

Very annoying.....

The Simpsons is doing that on HD because the HD spec states that stretchy vision is a big no no but the SD spec doesn't.

I wasn't aware of that, but hoorah, at last! I get a headache looking at the telly when the kids watch The Simpsons in fat-o-vision 16:9.

Has anyone resolved this yet?

Mine has been doing the same thing and its anooying. I rang Sky but got some Inidan guy making me change the apect ratio on the Sky settings from 16:9 to 4:3 60 times so I just gave up.

The picture is really small on some channels and there are black bars down the sides.

On the other hand my multiroom box is working fine.

The in-laws had this recently - I just set the TV and the Sky box settings to always use 16:9 and I'm pretty sure that did it?

Sky is set to 16:9, don't have the remote for the tv. Boohoo.

Mines just started this today?

Anyone track down the issue yet?

From my testing, even if you manually change the TV settings, changing to another TV channel and back to one of the offending Sky channels makes the TV switch back to 4:3!!!

Just checked now, from whichever channel you start from, if you tun on Sky Sports 1 it will revert to 4:3. Move up to SS2 and TV snaps back to widescreen after a couple of seconds.

Definitely a Sky problem to do with the indicators of whether the picture is 4:3 or widescreen...

my tv was set to "auto" for the screen setting, so i had to go into the menu to change it to 16:9 and now it seems fine, sky still wont admit to changing anything tho

They have been on 16:9 all the way along.
