Could be that DAB signal in your area is pretty poor. Have a gander at one of the DAB radio searches on Google and see what you're supposed to pick up. We sell Vita in store, which are at the top end of the market but cannot pick up any stations without an external aerial!Nobody You Know said:

Thers something wrong with it then, my cheap-oh Pure DAB (£14) picks about 30 stations. My Pure DAB Pocket also gets perfecct reception on loads of stationsIt doesn't matter though because Planet Rock is the only station you need anyway.
You should worry....

We're sorry, there are no digital radio stations available in your area at the moment. Digital radio coverage continues to grow as new transmitters are switched on, so please check back from time to time to see if your postcode is covered.

Mind you we haven't got channel 5 yet on analogue.

Being skint, when my old Sony midi died a while back, I got the cheapest of what I would call respectable single box replacements for it.
It does my record player (with a preamp), my computer and TV.
It has DAB, by the cheapo wire antenna reception for the DAB tuner was poor. I already have an FM antenna on the roof and get good reception. I put a DAB antenna up on the roof, and now I get comparable DAB reception, easily getting stuff from London. (I'm on the south coast)
There are more stations than I can be bothered to choose from.... At least 25-30. (Planet Rock - only one choice really)

Have you searched for Digital radio coverage in your area?

Also, have you put the aerial up? Daft question to ask, but...

I've never found DAB to be poorer than FM for reception - and I live way up in the wilds of Northumberland. ( no mains water, let alone gas... )
Indeed, the set I've got in the car probably has better reception, too.
My Pioneer head unit on the car I bought sounds amazing. At first I thought it only picked up 3 stations, Radio 1, Punjab Radio and something else. Turned out that you press a different button to go onto the subfrequencies and it's got pretty much everything. Perfect.Indeed, the set I've got in the car probably has better reception, too.

FWIW, I got the stations that that coverage calculator said, but without the roof antenna. With the roof antenna, I get way more than the coverage thing suggests I could.http://www.ukdigitalradio.com/coverage/postcodesea...

Picks up 25 stations or so - including the "Birdsong" station (WTF is that all about?!)
It was originally used as the test station in the early days of DAB but proved remarkably popular so now just sits in a spare spot in the spectrumWhy on earth anyone would listen to it through choice though is beyond me!

Originally it was a commercial music station but ran out of advertisers/money.
They had a lease on the channel so they just put a loop of birdsong on.
It got more listeners than it ever had when it was a commercial station so it stayed.
Perhaps they have moved it to an old test station now if his channel lease has run out, but thats how it came about.
