I can't get it to fire up on starting from stand by.

It's the PDP-502MXE and I've just noticed the fan's aren't coming on when switched on and within a couple of seconds it switches straight back onto stand-by.

Was quite looking forward to watching that football tonight.

Any chance of getting any repairs or replacement panel to work with the DVD/CD tuner model XV-DV77 or is time to replace the whole lot.

I think I already know the answer.

No, all cables are located as they should be.

The remote get's pressed to switch on and the side light indicator goes from red to green but switches back within 2-3 seconds to red witout turning on.

I fear the worst.

mmmm mines did that and it was after the missus had moved the control unit and the two white cables weren't connected properly.

Sorry - it's the only help I can give.

Chances are that its repairable.

However, the 9th gen panels could well be the end of an era.

Tricky one...

To late for that now, as I won the whole system from a job i was doing a couple of years ago.

Guess it's time to suck it up, grow some and take the plunge to buy a new panel at least if not the whole new system and keep the DVD player as a kicking music centre.

I have read in the electronics press that Pioneer are jacking in making TVs, certainly the factory in north yorkshire I was in a while ago is a ghost of it's former self.

Doesn't help you mind.

Confirmed yesterday.

They're out of televisions totally, DVD players have been hived off to Sharp and they're going to be concentrating on Pro-DJ, In-Car and SatNav products.

That is a shame if their dispays are as good as seems to be reckoned. Can only say my experience of Pioneer kit has been disappointing... two DVD players that were at the relevant times supposed to be the dogs danglies (ok, this is a few years ago now). Both were piles of poo; one an extremely expensive pile of poo that was back and forward for repair many times. I'd never buy anything again with the badge on.
