Any ideas why our Sky remote doesn't seem to work after firing up the box until it appears to have warmed up?
Very delayed inputs or nothing. Then after about 5 minutes it flies through the menus as normal.
(yes, I've checked the batteries)

Is it the remote, or the whole unit?

Are you booting the box from cold, or from standby?

If its coming up from being off at the wall then the box needs time to boot up (like a computer - which is essentially what it is)

If its happening from coming out of standby you have a more difficult to locate problem.

had the same problem with our original Sky+ box - it was very slow to respond to the remote. Eventually it degraded further (random switch-off's, no signal received messgaes and other crapness).

Box replaced, second one better for a month or so then began to fail.

Replaced with HD and it's been fine for 6 months. I suspect a subtle plan to get people so sock of the normal boxes we move to HD ones!

Not as bad as the OP's but I must admit, my box doesn't seem to be as responsive until it's been running for a while (from standby). There is either no response to some remote command or the response is delayed. After a few minutes all is fine.

I'm using a Logitech remote though, not the Sky one, and an HD Sky box

Box is on standby, so no logical reason why the remote takes the extra time.
