Father in law wanted to buy a Sony 40" LCD and home cinema system. He went to the local Sony centre where he was quoted a price.

I looked on-line and bought the same model of LCD TV and home cinema for about £600 cheaper from Amazon.

He is struggling to set it up, so we asked the local Sony centre for advice, who told us that for £99.99 they would come out and install it.

Is this worth it? Anyone know if there is a service that i could buy that is cheaper?

Not answering the question but whats the problem/problems smile

I thought the Sony surround systems where pretty easy to set up with even the speakers colour coded.

£100 sounds about right, that is what I would want.

One may have thought that as he gave his business to the local high street store as opposed to buying off the Internet they may have come out to assist a customer as part of the service?

I wouldve thought that you had bought in from Amazon that that was a pretty good deal to install it. We wouldnt install any third party kit as theres always a slightly grey area if there might be an issue
