Out of interest, are there any TVs on the market (or soon to be released) with built in recording capabilities or do you still have to buy seperate recording freeview/freesat boxes?

The Answer is Humax. They do a 32 inch twin tuner version.

cheers guys, I'm struggling to find one with all bells and whistles though (1080p, 24p, 100hz). I've not come across the LG ones so I'll have a browse.

I think the problem may be that the kind of facility you want is the type of feature that would be in an 'all in one' type unit aimed at the lower end of the market, like a kids room.

For all the bells and whistles end of the market they assume that you would be looking for a separate item.

I would actually recommend going this way. A TV to that spec won't be outdated for 5-10 years. The recording standards change pretty quickly though and new and better systems come through quite quickly.
