Hi guys, I'm hoping that someone can help me.

I have been having an issue with my sky where I get a notice on the screen saying that there is no satellite signal being received. This has been an intermittent problem but has got a whole lot worse and eventually the thing never worked. Thinking that it was my dish I called some local people round to change my dish. When they came around they tested the signal strength and said that it was ok and the problem probably lies with my digibox getting old.

So, I acquired another box and just now plugged it in and now I am getting the same notice "no satellite signal is being received" on both boxes. Now when I go into the system setup thing in the sky menu to check the signal strength there is nothing there (there used to be). Am I missing something?

I then thought that the problem could be the dish cable connection so I trimmed a bit off the cable (digibox end) and made the connection all nice and sound, but still no difference.

What the hell do I do now? Any ideas people?

Could be the dish is out of alignment and the people you got round were wrong. Could be a dodgy LNB on the dish or bad or corroded connection. Could be a faulty cable from the dish to the box.

The only way to find out is to start at the dish and work backwards.

phone sky we had a problem that sounds similar to this last year, the other half dealt with it so i cant say exactly what happened but 15 mins on the phone and it was all taken care of, we have a box upstairs & one downstairs running off the same dish and the problem only happened on the one box.

Definately sounds like bad alignment or dodgy cable.

get new cable and it re-aligned and you should find it sorted.

There is not muh else other than cable.

Especially if it started on only a couple of channels and at certain times of day.

Water is probably getting in some where, supprised the guys didn't check it when the did the dish allignment.
