Hiya fellas ive got a new tv and surround sound cinema system. I have a problem with the sound.

All the speakers work when i tested them and are connected up correctly as per the book.

But when i watch anything nothing actually comes out of the 2 rear speakers.

Will it only work on certain programs or something or does it sound like a problem with the system ? Im scrstching my head !

Sounds like either the signal/program isn't braodcasting surround signal, or you have the wrong mode selected on your surround box. Mine says that certain broadcasts won't necessarily output from the back speakers. In that case you could set psuedo-surrround mode where it'll reprocess the signal.

If it works when you play a DVD (that you know has surround sound) then the systems fine. Mine automatically selects between stereo and surround sound signal source and configures the output accordingly. Sounds like yours is doing the same.

Sometimes the rear speakers feel like hangers-on....

What kind of system have you got...?

Have you tried turning up the volume to the rears - they're not turned right down are they...?

What setting is the amp on - eg stereo / 2.1 surround etc...?

Rear speakers are only supposed to be an adjustment of sound.

Anyhow, you should have a test mode within the setup menu on the remote. It will send a fuzzy sound to all of the speakers individually and in turn. You can also adjust the individual volumes in the setup mode.

HTH.

You'll only get sound out of the rears on broadcasts with matrix surround (pro-logic) and there arent many.

They'll work fine with DVD.
