New Tv and Hi-Fi help !!!
Discussion
I am having a new lounge built at present and have been told by the mrs that the old 40 inch rear projection Tv and hi fi separates have to go ( into my office in the new garages as it happens) so no real issue.
However I need to buy a new stereo for the lounge and a new tv, I need some advise on what to buy, the requirements are very small and discreet hifi and flat screen tv.
I have looked at a bose hifi and sony flat screen circa 40 inch, can some one give me advise re alternatives. I am way out of touch !!!
The reason I ask now is that whilst the room is being built it gives me the chance to hide speakers and wires.
Thanks

I wouldnt go for the Pioneer LCD - its a sharp LCD Panel, with modified software, it also suffers from noise. Go and check it out.
I would go for the Samsung LE37A686 (If you must have 37") but if you can stretch to 40" most 40" use a filter screen to enhance blacks.
Pioneer Plasmas are the way forward
Drop me a line if you need to source any product.

I recently refurbished my house, and have a lot of experience (c.12 years) with home automation and Hi-fi through a company I used to own.
There are some pretty amazing technologies around these days including picture lifts (that hide your screen behind a picture or painting) projection screens that disappear completely into the ceiling, and in-wall/ceiling speakers.
Modern projectors are fast catching up with LCD and plasma TV in terms of picture quality, and you get a far larger screen for your money.
I built a media server for my place that stores all my music and movies, streams HD video and audio to every room in the house, monitors cameras, controls the lights, and even locks my car!.
If you want to send me a mail I'd be happy to give you some help and recommendations based on your room size and budget, and you can give me some buying advice when I'm buying my Ferrari!.

Mount the TV on the wall and either use in-wall speakers and an in-wall sub or if you fancy going for it have a look at the plaster in wall speakers.
I have a cinema in my bedroom with in-ceiling speakers and the kit's in the cupboard tucked away. The screens on the wall and the misses loves it.
