LG telly/Sony Soundbar/AppleTV issue

For several years I have had the above combo and all has worked perfectly with the ATV remote.

Suddenly the ATV will not work the volume on the soundbar and the telly displays a white 'no entry' sign. I can only alter the volume with the Sony soundbar remote. I don't think anything has changed in the settings, tried 2 different HDMI cables, the optical cable is showing red at the end and the sound stops if i disconnect it. Spent ages faffing round with the settings to no avail/

I appreciate it's not the worlds largest problem but would like it all working as was. What's gone wrong please folks?

Does the TV remote still work it? Sounds like maybe it's not using ARC anymore? Alternatively I've had soundbars do stuff like that then be OK after pulling the power for a minute.

Tried unplugging the soundbar and its worked! I'd done similar to the ATV and the telly, but missed the soundbar..
