Media server: processing power needed?
Discussion
Have run a search but can’t find anything about media servers on here but hoping someone has some knowledge they can share.
I’ve had a basic NAS for ages but have never dealt with video or multiple users. Am now trying to figure out what sort of processing power I need in a NAS/server to be able to transcode/serve one (or even better two) 4k feeds (one to a Dolby Vision system).
Also needs to be able to support at least one (preferably two) FLAC feed at the same time. I expect they’re easy compared to video.
Would probably max out at 3 simultaneous feeds (1x video + 2x FLAC, or 2x video + 1x FLAC) at any given time.
Does anyone know how to figure out the minimum spec I need? Don’t want to go full overkill on it.
