Looking for a battery powered wifi and bluetooth speaker that can be used ‘stand alone’ like the Bose Sound Touch? My father is looking to upgrade his sound touch 1 which doesn’t have bluetooth but just can’t seem to find anything decent. The Sound touch 20 or 30 are perfect but discontinued and i’m reluctant to recommend something thats legacy and might go out of support.

Was looking at sonos and denon but I don’t think the battery versions can work independently without a phone?

Apologies if I am missing something here although what do mean by work independently since I would have thought that you will require a source device of some description for Bluetooth to work?

Unless your father wants to have a line in input which is becoming increasingly rare!

The Bose one he has at the moment is wifi and has presets so you can listen to say the radio without connecting a device. For now i’m suggesting a battery powered bluetooth receiver in the AUX port should give him what he needs.

I see - I have the BOSE 10 so know how that works - just without the flexibility to move it from room to room although I do have 4 of them dotted about the house!

The Marshall one I have in the bathroom is epic. Emberton. There’s a newer version too.

Can they be used without the proprietary app?
