Afternoon.

Looking for reccomendations on a Bluray and DVD player that is region free. Now I seem to remember that there might have been a thread here on PH, and a reccomendation for a Panasonic player from Amazon using TPS as the seller, however I dont seem able to find the thread, and the TPS Panasonic is Bluray region B, not region free.

So, am i chasing my tail on this? Having spent an inordinate length of time in the US, I've amassed discs from all over, and would simply like to play them here in the UK.

TIA

I had until recently a Sony X800 UHD player that was made region free for Blu Ray by TPS. New, they are about £400 but I expect you can find a used one cheaper.

For DVD, most players are region free these days and UHD doesn't have region restrictions.

I have heard of some players being modified by using a special remote or using a sequence of button presses on a standard remote. Others need a mod chip as the region locking is hardware based.

There's not actually that many Blu Rays that are region locked - I think I ended up with 2 that were region A locked out of quite a few from the US.

I have a Panasonic Blu Ray DVD player model number to follow which you can have for free. Barely used, fully working remote control. Getting it to you we can discuss. I have a home in the USA and have the same requirements as you but in reverse.....I take discs from here to there. PM me for details and photos etc.
