My mac mini and my hifi are in different rooms.

I had hoped by buying a WiiM Pro that I would be able to stream from the mac music storage to the WiiM using either the WiiM app, or an iPad.

However, the only way I have found is to go to the mac and launch music over AirPlay to the WiiM.

I believe if I pay Apple money monthly they will let me see the mac music on my ipad, but I shall not be doing that.

Am I missing something or is this all I can do without a NAS?

Switch on Home Sharing and you'll see all your music on your iPad IIRC - think you should be able to do it that way. It'll appear on your iPad as Home Sharing in the Apple Music app and you'll see 'your library'

Set up Home Sharing
Choose Apple menu ? > System Settings, then click General in the sidebar.
Click Sharing on the right.
Turn on Media Sharing, then click the Info button. next to it.
Select Home Sharing, then enter your Apple ID and click Turn on Home Sharing.

I have a Wiim Pro connected to my SMSL DL200 DAC and use it for AirPlay2 playback (system is in my office) - but I do pay for Apple music/Apple TV+ as a package etc

Yeah that's what I do.

Home sharing via Apple TV 4K boxes to my AV amps. I can stream my itunes library from my Mac mini or just play purchased music directly. No need for additional boxes.

I think you get the full lossless bandwidth from Apple Music over HDMI as well?
