Cambridge audio Hi Res Tidal Connect
Discussion
No idea if this information is of any value to anyone but Tidal Connect on Cambridge Audio would never play the Hi Res tracks on Tidal. It would stream MQA if you have a separate DAC that was capable of unpacking MQA but not Hi Res. You could select a hi res track but always downgrade to “high”
Anyway, Cambridge Audio have released a new firmware which is for mass release next week but available now if you’ve selected to receive early release and it now supports Hi Res through Tidal Connect.
I’ve got a separate MQA DAC and its little LEDs are now illuminated at 192 which it’s never done before via Tidal. Toto Africa at 24bit 192khz
Obviously my old ears probably won’t hear any difference but at least my equipment is making the most out of the higher bit rates.

I’ve not really streamed much since the upgrade but it’s been faultless so far. My biggest issue with my set up is that my iPad will lose connection to the streamer on the WiFi. The tidal app is rubbish so I’ve started using stream magic to see if that’s any better.
Im also possible moving to Naim streamer but im going to listen to some before I spend more money on what basically does the same thing….
