Thank the Cambridge Audio CXN V2, used/2nd hand maybe?

Budget c£500-700 maybe, at a push

I need XLR out to connect to my JBL studio monitors and want Airplay2 also

My PreSonus USB interface has died today. I've pinched my old Focusrite Scarlett Solo off my brothers system as he's not using it currently

So thinking it's time to get a decent all in one streamer / DAC etc and the remote is a great to have as well...

Cheers

Top of your budget should get a CA 851N - a fine machine using great DACs and s/e and XLR balanced outputs.
The (defeatable) preamp isn’t too bad either and might be ideal for active monitors.

Sound and build quality are a step above the CXN.

Can you wire the JBLs as unbalanced & thus remove one limitation on your choice?

Thanks; considered that but they're way over budget 2nd hand and I don't want to spend that much

Cheers though

They're XLR or TRS in only

What about a Wiim Pro streamer for £150 paired to a Topping E70 Dac for £400?

The Topping has XLR out and the Wiim streamers have a great app (I have a Wiim Mini which uses the same UI). Both well reviewed and available from Amazon should you wish to return them.

That is a thought cheers; I've been considering this SMSL DAC also:

Had a few SMSL DACs before when I had separates and they always performed really well; never had anything from Topping

Just to update

Ended up going for an SMSL DL200 DAC: https://www.amazon.co.uk/ES9039Q2M-Headphone-Ampli...

Saved me having to buy new cables; allows me to keep my M2 Mac Mini Pro connected via USB and I've got a Wiim Pro connected to it for AirPlay2 music playback using my iPhone around the house etc... But also taken a trial with Spotify & Tidal also

Very impressed so far; it's a superb DAC with great connectivity
