In the process of renovating our lounge and at the wife's request, the tv is now wall mounted on a pivoting mount. So I'm after a new soundbar, one which I can mount above the tv off the VESA brackets, has a wireless subwoofer and at least one HDMI passthrough.

Am I asking too much for £300? Any recommendations please?

It's possible with £100 to spare.

No personal experience from me of this soundbar, but it got a decent review from What HIFI

I am considering trying out this Denon soundbar . . .

aaah - no Subwoofer I hear you mutter smile

That is why I have short-listed it, as it has a dedicated Subwoofer Out jack so you can connect a better quality sub than would normally be provided.

Or this one that does come with a sub . . .

I have that one, after trying an amazon Chinese special... I’m very happy with the sound from the Denon, it’s never going to be a surround sound system, but the bass and clarity that comes from it is great. I can now hear what they are saying on TV rather than the muffle from the standard tv speakers.

We got a Polk one about 2 years or so ago on the recommendation of the chap at Richer Sounds, and against the reviews that said they sounded good but were a bit flaky.

...and sure enough, it's a bit flaky. Good sound quality, but it's been back once already as it kept cutting out and taking all sound with it (you'd need to switch it off and on, or sometimes switch it off and leave it off for a while). And guess what...it's doing it again.

Am going to get it repaired again under the extended warranty, but am also shopping for a new soundbar for the lounge and this one's going in the games room when that's finished.

...so lesson learned - online reviews ARE accurate! biggrin
