Have an optima ultra short throw which I used to run through a Marantz amp, via HDMI.
Maranttz has gone and not have a Yamaha aventage A3050 and having trouble getting the projector and amp to handshake.

Google suggests there's an issue with Yamaha and optoma, but not found a solution. It works sometimes but seems like the projector doesn't always see the HDMI signal, so keeps cycling though inputs?

Anyone have any insights? Hoping its a setting issue?

One thing to try is the HDMI mode 1 or 2 setting in Advanced Setup on the Yamaha.

Older model but the procedure is the same:

So. I had a play with various settings but the key one seems to have been to turn the projector off auto input select.
May sound odd but the amps seems to take a fraction longer to send a signal to the projector than the projector was waiting to receive before looking at the next input, so never made the 'handshake'?

We shall see, but it worked this evening (however tomorrow is another day)....

I have two outputs on my AMP. For the projector found I needed the TV plugged in on output 1 and output 2 to projector.
Due to low use I was happy to have screen in front of TV and leave it on.

I shall try this! Sometimes my Optoma PJ screen just goes to snow, and I have to power cycle the (Denon) AVR amp for the pic to come back.

Both of those are well known makes, so it’s surprising that they won’t connect.

Have you tried interrupting the signal between the Amp and projector with a cheap powered HDMI switching box, to see if that fools the projector.

Well, its sort of working but not bomb proof.
I have to keep the HDMI output to 1&2 (rather than just 2 for projector) and then turn the TV off once its up and running.

Certainly a LOT more faff than my old Marantz, and I'm not sure the sounds is any better.
