Hope this is allowed, wanted to share my positive experience with Wilmslow audio who specialise in high end speaker repairs.

Dave & Steve at Wilmslow repaired my late 90s ProAC Studio 150s after my daughter had a party and blew them up (too much drum and bass)! They couldn't be more helpful and Dave came in on Sat just for my convenience when dropping off and collecting. To say I'm pleased is an understatement, they replaced broken drivers and upgraded crossovers. First time I played them I was blown away by just how fantastic they sound. Brilliant service!

Before I knew I could get them repaired, I bought some new Wharfedale 4.4 Evos. They have great reviews but in my heart I knew they lacked the detail of the ProACs. As soon as I plugged them back in, my suspicions were confirmed - they sound amazing.

For anyone thinking new speakers are the way to go for better sound, I'd urge you to consider an older pair of high end speakers, then send them to Wilmslow to get them refurbished.

I knew them when they were actually in Wilmslow - used to specialise in speaker kits...

Aren't they in Leicestershire or somewhere now?

Yes, Stoney Stanton. They still sell self build kits too.

I too knew them when they were in Cheshire. I still listen to a pair of their kit speakers 30 years on!

A fantastic company. I feared the worst when I saw your thread title. Glad to hear they are doing well

I built a pair of their transmission line speakers based on the TL15s in 2018. Huge and heavy but they sound better than any other speaker I have ever heard. Plain Janes but who cares if they sound this good?
Wilmslow have had some bad press in the past but I can't fault them. Prices are very reasonable and they only sell top-end drive units.
Don't forget that the general rule for high end products is that the drive units will cost about 10% of the retail price of the complete speaker.
So for about £6,000 you can build a pair of speakers to rival the PMC BB5s at £42,000 (which use almost identical drive units in a similar design).

I also used them when they were in Wilmslow but for car audio. We used to buy drive units and crossovers from them.

One of the chaps there had a crazy little 16v Toyota. I can't actually remember what it was but it was quite a rare thing at the time.
