Hi all,

Just moved from a house with Virgin Media and had ended up with a plan including v fast internet, Sky Sports (for F1) and TNT Sports (for MotoGP/WSB) for £109/month.

The sports are pretty much the only 'premium' TV we watch outside of Netflix, so having cancelled I'm now wondering which way to go. To be fair if Virgin's customer service wasn't so appalling I'd be happy to stay, but given the opportunity I was wondering if there is a better and cheaper way to approach it.

What I'd really like is great, reliable service Sky Sports F1 and TNT Sports for the same or less than £109 a month I was paying before. I know there are videopasses/other options etc but I'd really welcome any suggestions!

Thank you,
Rob

That's a lot. I pay 55 quid for Sky and that's Sports, Netflix, and Ultra HD. Then pay another 34 a month for 900mbps fibre.

Have you tried phoning sky and asking to cancel. You used to have to do a bit of a rigmarole but now they just dive straight into flinging discounts. You can usually cut it by half.

Thanks, that's cool, I was more wondering whether if buying the video pass options or other apps was better as I don't use the Sports subs for anything other than F1 and MotoGP (or any of the other TV tbf!). smile

I've been with BT since dumping Sly about 5 years ago and never looked back. BT contract ran about 2 years ago but couldn't be arsed to renew (stayed with them but remained out of contract) until last year when we bought a new TV and soundbar with extra speakers, UHD, Atmos etc. so wanted to get the best out of it. Rang BT to renew and they agreed to replace with a BT Halo plus router and BT TV Box Pro and a saving of about 20 quid per month. So now paying £102 per month.

I've been buying a Now TV monthly subscription for all Sly Sports channels which bumped it up considerably so dumped that last month (there are 'free' ways to watch it wink )

Fast forward: BT are finally switching over to their EE brand and have hinted at better prices for existing BT customers to switch but you have to ring them for your "personalised deal" which I've not done yet.

So just checked their online price as a new customer - if you are and existing customer don't key in your real postcode and clear your browser cookies as you wont get very far!!!.

Price comes out at £85/month for Broadband router (fibre to cabinet as can't get fibre to house and don't really need it anyway) EE Pro box and also free multi-room with up to 2 free boxes, UHD with Atmos etc. Big Sports package so all TNT sorts and Sly sports channels.........

I will be switching but waiting to see if they offer existing BT customers a better deal again.

Edit: and with BT or EE Now Sports for Sly you can access them through their EPG and nor have to faff around with the app.

Yeah I am not sure. I wonder about that as I only watch the cricket and there are big gaps when there isnt any on. Watch a fair bit on the other channels though.

That’s really useful info, thank you! I might well go for their internet and TNT sports package for 53 quid a month and forgo the f1 as and when it becomes interesting again smile
