A bit of background; having the living room totally redecorated with a media wall of sorts being built, did have a 65" Samsung "The Frame" on a stand in the corner LINK but thinking to go bigger.

It'll be on a swivel mount to allow it to be pulled out a turned a little for the few times people on a couch the other side of the room will be watching but most of the time it'll just be us on the couch in front of the screen. We have a Sonos Arc, Sub and 2x Era 300 it'll connect to which we're happy with.

I'm pretty happy with the UI on the Samsung but haven't really used much else, we use the built in software for Netflix/Amazon Prime/Apple TV etc - so although I am not keen to move away from Samsung, happy to take advice and opinions on others?

Budget of around £5k, the less the better obviously. Don't use it for gaming much but occasionally PS4 if I'm bored. It'll have an Apple TV connected to it but it's rarely used.

Room looks like this;

TV will be wall mounted to the left of the chimney breast (I've checked 75" will fit).

Any advice appreciated!

LG OLED C3 or G3. I simply prefer their UI over other manufacturers.

Thanks Matt, look like good options and having looked at a review of WebOS 23 it actually looks pretty good.

C3 and G3 are let down by their sound but this isn't really relevant in this case.

Yeah I’ve got a C2 which replaced my old E7 which had a built in sound bar. The sound quality isn’t brilliant and would certainly benefit a soundbar or av set up but day to day I find it perfectly acceptable.

Well having read/watched some reviews that was quite an easy decision in the end, G3 77" at £3,999 with a free LG GX soundbar which I'll use elsewhere.

Thanks Matt!

Richer Sounds, it's not in stock until January but I'm in no rush to do it before. Also can't buy online, so you'd have to call your local shop.

i disable the wifi on my LG as the adverts and popup messages drive me nuts

WebOS is also very poor compared to apple TV, but then all TV OS is poor compared to apple TV IMO

On my LG I use the dedicated remote buttons for those apps and the home button, then select the apps for others.

Not sure there's much more to it... it's quick enough to react.

Not dissimilar to my Samsung TVs albeit the LG is a far superior viewing experience.

To be fair, I do think the Apple TV UI is great, I'm just generally too lazy to use it. The kids know how to put their Disney stuff on the TV, I'd confuse them if I started using it primarily.

Have you considered picking up an Nvidia shield or similar device? Better ref futureproofing. Completely understand if you want to keep it all on the TV software though.

You get Ads on LG?

Yep, that would be very annoying.

I'm sold on Sony so their version of the Android UI. Clean, easy, no Ads. I like how it can find all Apps, even those not UK-specific. It finds my Apps from abroad that my previous Samsung couldn't and works with my VPN, also via its own app so sits next to all the streaming media apps for ease of finding. It all works perfectly. My XR65A95L came with two remotes, one conventional, the other has the media buttons like Netflix etc included and metal, not plastic. I actually like the voice and gesture controls; wave my hand to stop, pause, resume, turn off etc.

The PQ on the A95L's is the best I've seen to my eyes too.

I don’t find the ads too intrusive on the LG. Yes there is a banner with things on there but all the apps are easy to navigate to beneath them and it’s a pretty snappy UI.

Its a real shame that ROKU operating system is not used on any really nice TV. I have a super cheap Hisense TV and the built in ROKU is great.

Nobody likes a an unfinished thread. We're getting there with this. Surround sound to set up rather than just the soundbar.

I'm really liking WebOS!

Edit: Excuse the mess, we have a birthday in the house today.

If you've already got an Apple TV I'd use that and pretty much ignore the TV interface wherever possible.

So much easier especially with the way you can do multi-tasking and switch apps etc.

I'm still pissing about wondering how I get further wiring in now the tv is mounted. I'd like to give Apple TV another chance but it may be better suited elsewhere now!
