Samsung TV + Disney+ driving me nuts
Discussion
In the last couple of weeks my 2017 Samsung TV has developed an odd issue with Disney+ which I'm tearing my hair out over. You can load the app, navigate around, select a program but when you go to load it, it just sits there on the blue spinning circle ad infinitum.
If I reset the TV it will work for one programme and then goes back to the same behaviour. Samsung support haven't been able to fix it either, each time they do "something" then reset the SmartHub and/or TV, I get one programme then we're back to square one.
Has anyone else got the same issue or even worked out how to solve it? Resetting the SmartHub takes a good 10-15 minutes each time with reconfiguring everything, logging back in to various apps etc. so is an absolute pain.
Due to the way to TV is programmed I can't even delete and reinstall just the Disney app as it's part of the "core" install
There's nothing wrong with Disney+ as I can always stream onto my laptop, iPad, phone etc. without any issues....

Firestick, Roku etc. Never buy a TV for it's smart functions. They'll date quickly and won't be supported beyond a few years.
Better to use a third party device that will be supported, tested and is cheap to update.
We have the same issue with out Firestick so watch Disney on our Samsung Better to use a third party device that will be supported, tested and is cheap to update.

Have you checked for firmware updates or reinstalled the app? Tried rebooting it? What model and year is the Firestick?
Yep tried all that , was hoping the recent Disney app update would sort it Edited by TEKNOPUG on Tuesday 7th November 11:54
Its a gen 1 Fire TV Cube, everything else works fine just Disney
I was having problems with Disney+ on Chromecast 4k - in the past three months it'd often get "error 39". It worked seamlessly for a year or so before that. The error message would come up after a long time trying to play whatever thing - the lead-in promo crap would play but it'd sit there spinning when it started trying to play the actual content you selected and then, after a while, it'd give up and give the error message. I'd imagine the native app on a Samsung might not have the error handling if it sits and spins indefinitely.

Does your Tv have a static address.
Might be worth trying assigning it one.
I have 7 day leases on my DHCP server so the IP address rarely changes but I’ll give a static IP a go to see if it makes a difference. Might be worth trying assigning it one.
In the meantime, I’ve dug out an old Firestick I had, updated it and now can at least get Disney+ working on that for now. Not great though for the less tech savvy other half who I need to train to cope with two remotes!

I find Disney is the worst of the streaming apps for random and unpredictable behaviour, regular error messages, crashing, losing track of where you are in a series. It might be worth reporting it to them.
Have you tried different devices? I've had D+ for 3 years now and never had such issues. That's using Nvidia Shield Pro, old skool Chromecast, the 4k Chromecast with remote and Chrome on Windows 11.I've got the same on a Philips TV. Virtually every day we have to restart the TV to kick it back into action from freezing randomly in the middle of a stream, with Disney+ being the worst offender followed by Netflix
It got properly bad a month or so ago, to the point where clearing the cache did nothing - I had to resort to a factory reset and clearing out the crap apps from it for it to do anything. Another may be on the cards soon!

I occasionally get the same on my SkyQ box.
More4 is worse though. It regularly returns you to a different place in the program after showing adverts. It's bloody annoying as you have to take it back to the right point, which triggers another set of adverts.
This made me angry simply reading it.More4 is worse though. It regularly returns you to a different place in the program after showing adverts. It's bloody annoying as you have to take it back to the right point, which triggers another set of adverts.
Why is digital visual experience such a stshow of proprietary, custom, unique software and application of said.
You'd think there was some sort of standard by now.
I always have problems with Disney, but Netflix, Prime, iPlayer are fine, as was Britbox when I used their free trial.
I've tried 2 different Samsung smart TVs, nvidia Shield, Roku 2, and Firestick. All have the same problem - random freezes and sound dropouts for a few seconds, often 4 or 5 times during one film. Only on Disney, no idea why.
