Speaker interference problem/question...
Discussion
Hopefully a simple problem with a simple resolution, probably not knowing my luck
I've started using my home-cinema surround-sound system after a long period of occasional use and regularly get static interference (loud crackle through the speakers) and/or the sound drops out for a split second. Obviously, I realise that trying to diagnose an issue without seeing/hearing it is akin to being asked "how long is this?" without being able to see the item but ideas to check would be appreciated.
The cables to the rears are buried in the wall (and it seems as if these speakers are the most affected (though it is hard to tell in fairness - I guess I could disconnect and see if the problem still occurs).
The items concerned are about 8 years old and are:
Denon AVR2313
KEF eggs

I think you need to disconnect the speakers and try one at a time to see if only certain channels or speakers are affected or all of them.
Does it only happen where the unit is first powered on and warming up and then is fine or all the time?
It could be dry joints or the lead free solder degrading. Probably time for an upgrade anyway.

this is the solution I'd be happy to present to Mrs DG Does it only happen where the unit is first powered on and warming up and then is fine or all the time?

In all honesty, I had thought that some sort of dry joint/cracking solder might be an issue - don't know enough how to check that.
I will have to disconnect various speakers I guess - but given that we may well move next year a new amp/speakers might be justifiable anyway

Not a dusty volume pot is it? Does it crackle more when moving the volume (or other controls)?
An easy fix if that's the case.
sadly it happens (seemingly) at random (but not when adjusting the volume) - I thought at one point it happened only when something else electrical turned on, but that's not the case An easy fix if that's the case.
