ANC Earbuds Sony vs Bose
Discussion
I've always had a set of ANC earbuds for being out and about. First had Bose QC30's with the neck band and whilst they were cumbersome, the battery and ANC was excellent. Had 2 pairs of them using the Currys' extended warranty (first claim was easy, second was ... not).
I was a fan of their replacements as they were massive and changed over to the Sony WF-1000XM4's, again on the extended warranty.
These are now 2 years old and the right side discharges in a couple of hours and doesn't charge up. Sony have said they need repairing / replacing and they have gone into Currys, but they seem to have lost them (on the phone) and the store say that the "7 calendar day replacement" isn't their problem and to take it up with Customer Service (who can't find them). Anyhow that is a different story.
I have some Sony ANC Headphones for indoors, but want to replace the earbuds, for when I am travelling / outside.
Anyone got any opinions on the new Bose Ultra Quiet Earbuds vs the Sony WF-1000XM5's? Mostly which has the best ANC and reliability.
On reddit, there already seems to be some who are experiencing the right earbud discharge on the Sony's.
They are earbuds so I know quality etc is not going to be that of headphones etc.

I have used the Sony WF1000 XM4 since launch, currently showing 600 hours use on the app, which will be more than that as also use for Teams meetings. Not had a single problem with them, battery life still seems fine, maybe you just had a bad set? From all the reviews, Sony still seem to come top, although I don't see much benefit of the 5's over 4's.

Cheers, mine have malfunctioned so it will be a new pair. Not exactly what you asked but I have the Linkbuds S after discounting the XM4. Reading the issues with the 5s I am not surprised. Sony just can't seem to get their flagship buds quite right.
ANC on the S is impressive, a number of reviews I watched and read prior to purchasing them said the ANC was very close to the 4. They're also light, the microphone is excellent (terrible on the 4) and the battery life has proved solid. I also like the compact charge case.
Might be worth a look.
