Anyone any experience of the difference?

We are putting in a new setup and debating which of above to go for

Please don’t suggest 7.1.2 etc adding the ceiling speakers will be seamless to the room ex the additional wiring / unit cost as amp is a 9 channel

Does the additional 2 in ceiling units add much

We could spec them ideally per Dolby plans ie around the main couch

I went from 5.1 to 5.1.4 and the difference is huge as you would expect. Really pleased with it & you certainly feel immersed in the sound. I didn't try 5.1.2 first & I decided to put the extra 2 ceiling speakers & wiring in because it would have been almost impossible to do it after the ceiling had been put back together...

just do 5.1.4 i didnt bother with 5.1.2 but i reckon you will always think what if..... if you go for 2 ceiling speakers. some atmos soundtracks are actually amazing - plenty of threads on av forums with regards to the best movies/scenes

I bought a middle of the road Samsung (Q700A) 5.1.2 soundbar which was fine. The matching wireless pair of rears arrived 2 weeks later (they were out of stock so on back order) making it 5.1.4 this blew my mind when I set it up.

Not sure if serious smile

I’m actually going for 7.1.4 in the end just liked the idea of having speakers fully behind and seems wrong not to go for 7.1.x in a room where sofas are in the center of the room
