65” TV advice, QNED, QLED Mini LED…
Discussion
Hi all, just finished the extension and require a tv. Now Ive ruled out OLED as the screens are way too reflective for the room, have experience with my LG C2 in my other room. Please don’t recommend and OLEDS as it’s not what I want in this room.
I’ve done a bit of research and it’s led me to QLED/QNED.
Through my work I can get this TV for £879..
https://www.lg.com/uk/tvs-soundbars/smart-tvs/65qn...
Or this from Samsung for £1250
https://www.samsung.com/uk/tvs/qled-tv/qn88c-65-in...
Now I didn’t want to spend more than £1k, I’m not going to be doing any gaming, just be sticking a fire stick in it and watching Netflix etc on it. Maybe sky if I decide to get the wireless box thing.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Pooks.

You might get a better response below - just make sure to do what you did here & state clearly that you are not after an OLED & state why

Out of interest why did you rule out an OLED?
I’ve a similar choice to be made although ours will definitely be an LG as there are 2 others in the house already. Having already been talked down from first a projector and then a 75 by my better half the arguement is now about if spending the extra £500-1000 for an OLED panel is worth it. I’m intrigued why you think not?
For reference mine will be wall mounted in a relatively dark, single windowed room.

My main concern is my LG OLED in the other room is so reflective (like a mirror when it’s really sunny) it’s put me off for this room. I have integral blinds in the bifolds however don’t want to be closing them everytime I want to watch TV. QLEDS are meant to be better in brighter rooms.
I saw that Samsung have anti-reflective screens on their OLEDS but not sure how good they are. I was also considering the frame however we just wouldn’t use it for what it’s intended for.
Attached pictures for reference. (Excuse the mess)
Okay, that makes sense, particularly in the room you’ve shown there with lots of windows and direct light.
The room I’m buying for has a single, north facing window that doesn’t get direct light at all so I’m guessing reflection shouldn’t be an issue for us.
Price and persuading the wife might be!

I know it's not the done thing, but also look at energy efficiency, last time I was browsing at Costco I saw a fairly large TV with an energy rating of D (new rating) when every other one was an F or a G. It seemed like a massive difference per 1000 hours if your TV is on all day.
I thought the extra spend would be justified on energy costs alone in my house, your mileage may vary.

Thanks for the heads up, had a look and they are all F & G. I thought the extra spend would be justified on energy costs alone in my house, your mileage may vary.

I'm still trying to get my new 65s95c qd-oled dialed in finally got it wall mounted yesterday, now it's 2ft further away it's looking less imposing!
What’s your viewing distance? In my front room it’s about 3.5m and I’ve got a 48” which I don’t think is too bad. My only slight concern is jumping to a 65”, the distance from the sofa in the pic about is roughly the same, worried it’s going to be quite imposing. From the dining table it won’t be bad, just the sofa is my concern. That distance is fine according to that viewing calculator. My partner is also concerned about 65" being too large but for viewing it is ideal I think. I could go larger but then, yes, it does become imposing vs ideal viewing size I guess. I've gone Sony QD-OLED.
May I butt in briefly to ask a quick question . . . ?
Does anyone here watch their 65" from between 2m & 2.5m ?
I am trying to convince myself that I might gradually find a 55" starts to feel too small . . .
For clarity I currently sit 1.8m from a 40" LCD & my plan is to buy a C3, G2, or G3 when the Black Friday prices appear. Cannot decide whether a 55" or 65" . . . grrr decisions decisions etc
Majority of viewing would be 2m to 2.2m but there is the occasional flexibility to move the seating up to around 2.5m max for movies.

Yes me as I just said above I started feeling 55 was too small so went for 65 and now it's on the wall it feels right and it honestly doesn't look like it's dominating the room as I have it low down not on the ceiling like someDoes anyone here watch their 65" from between 2m & 2.5m ?
