Q Acoustics M20 active speakers - loud enough?
Discussion
Want to play mostly music from youtube etc via the tv. Maybe via bluetooth from iphone. Perhaps sound from firestick eg films or whatever. Was going keep it simple and get an amazon echo studio but then started looking around.
Have come across these speakers and they get good reviews, but my main concern is when you jack up the volume for some banging tunes do you get decent volume? Also want bassy and I suspect these aren’t. So my main concern is easy to use, and decent volume.

I don't have the Q acoustic speakers but I do have their sound bar and subwoofer. The subwoofer is turned right down as it will blow your teeth out.
The Echo sub device is also very good, my Dad has one and I was impressed but he does have 2 Amazon Echo smart speakers to make it a 2:1 set up and it does sound very good.

I've had the M20s for about a year and they're in a kitchen diner. Not a good acoustic environment with all those hard reflective surfaces and I reckon they would sound a little better in a more damped room.
Yes, they do go as loud as you'd expect from the 65w built in amp and the bass is as deep as you would expect from a bookshelf type speaker with a 5 inch driver. i.e. they sound as good as you'd expect a £400 amp/speaker combo to be.
I would in no way be happy with them for serious listening but for TV watching/background music they are fine and I think you'd have to spend several hundred more to get something appreciably better.

A little belated but for similar money an option is the Ruark MR1 Mk2.

I have them as desk speakers and listen to fair bit of house / dance music whilst working. They are plenty loud enough for my ears.
Ruark have recently launched a subwoofer for the MR1. That obviously jacks up the cost but gives an option if you want more bass in the future.
