Hi fellow PHers
I need a new HD sat receiver, doesnt need a harddrive for recording, but must have the "Sky" programme overview to enable series etc for 7 days ahead.. and cannot be connected to the internet as our internet speeds here are criminally slow (Imeg upload, 5meg download) slower than what the stagecoaches used to be!!!
I need it fairly fast as the BBC and others are all going HD, and the crap that is sold on Amazon has only EPG, i.e. no programme overview!!
We used to have a PHer who owned a TV shop who supplied my last one (Panasonic SD and handset getting old and quirky) Is he still around?
Delivery to SW Germany (swiss border)
Anyone help?
Many thanks guys!!!

I have moved this thread into Home Cinema forum as it was getting no responses in Tv and Film. I think the experts the OP is after reside in here.

Sounds like a basic Freesat box would do:

Are you sure you don't want recording/streaming abilities though?

Humax HB1000s or HB1100s.

We've had two generations of Humax twin tuner HDD versions that have been fault free. The HD channels don't appear quite as good quality as those straight out of our LG TV but the difference is marginal.

We're assuming your dish is on Astra 2E?

Yes you need a 'Freesat' box as above.

Although any Sky HD box will give you free-to-air channels (BBC1-C5 etc) without a subscription. You wont be able to record. Loads available cheep or free as subscribers have upgraded to Sky Q.

Have 2 sat dishes, one for GB-Astra and the other for D-Astra...
Don't need any recording as my Loewe TV does that....
does that help?

How do you currently manage the two dishes? Or do you have separate receivers for each?

D-dish is fed direct to TV which has it's own D-tuner. GB-dish fed through "sky" box (Panasonic) via AV and I can then switch between D and GB dishes.

Ok then, as before, a 'Freesat' box either with our without a recorder option. Or a Sky HD box will give you free-to-air channels but no recording without a sub. If you really want it simple then a Sky HD 'multi-room' box will work, just needs a single feed from the dish.
