Continually having a sky box issue at the moment. It seems to lose network connection constantly. Delete the internet and reinstall and its ok again for a couple of days.

The TV doesn't have this problem, all other TV, devices, phones, Ipads etc in the house are fine just the sky box. Anyone else had similar issues?

Yep, we get the same every week or so.

However, we’ve got lousy broadband here and are awaiting a fiber connection. It usually happens when the 17Mb broadband is being maxed out, which understandably doesn’t take much!

Mine did this when it was using the 5Ghz WiFi band.

Locked it to 2.4Ghz and it never did it again.

Worth a try.

My Sky Q box kept doing this even with the frequency change.
Just gave up and wired it directly from the router, if that's an option for you.

Glad it`s not just me having issues. The main Sky box in the living room is fine, and rarely disconnects. The mini box in our bedroom seems to disconnect every week or so and needs a proper reset of everything to get working again. It is probably 15ft from the main router and there is also a BT extender disc in the bedroom too, so signal shouldn't be an issue. It is particularly annoying as you don't find out it has disconnected until you settle down in bed to watch tv, to then find you need to get up and start resetting everything. I am tempted to request a replacement mini box from Sky to see if it makes a difference.

Not had that with the main Sky Q box, but binning the 5GHz certainly solved a lot of connection issues I was experiencing with the Miniboxes.

Exactly that. The main sky box is behind the TV which requires moving it off wall bracket, linking it to the router in another room, and then the mini box upstairs directly above it.

Sky are sending an engineer and new boxes. I don't think the engineer will resolve as its fine for a couple of days then glitches. Really bloody annoying. If this doesn't fix it I think I will just do away with Sky.

I have also realised the house has built in internet ports so ordered a couple of cables to hardwire the internet from router directly to boxes maybe for a better connection ( not massively technical, wrong terminology will have been used).

You'll probably need a network switch too. The ethernet sockets are probably all wired back to a central point, so you need a switch (hub) to connect all the sockets to each other.

Glad I binned it TBH
No more resetting the POS on a too regular basis
Just cancel it, not worth the aggro!

Interesting Sky Q network fact...

(Assuming you don't have Wi-Fi issues)

If you connect your Sky Q by Wi-Fi then you can plug an Ethernet wired device or even a network switch into the Sky Q Ethernet port and it works as a bridge.

This works using any ISP e.g. Sky Virgin, BT etc.

Exactly what I did. Haven't missed it one bit. But then I have no dependents that would hassle me for their dose of st TV. laugh

Sky have been out, replaced boxes and in fairness it was pretty quick for them to come out. I will allow one further attempt to sort this glitch, if it happens again it is getting binned.

I have upgraded my SkyQ to the UHD box too, to take advantage of having a UHD TV. They don't tell you that the SkyQ box they sent out by default did not support UHD and it cost me an additional £50.

In the setting menu, make sure that you have done a Software Update on all the Sky boxes. It takes a while and will take effect once you restart your Sky Q / Sky Mini.

If you are running a third party WiFi Mesh, then it is very particular. I have IP address reservations for my Sky boxes on my ISP router, not my Mesh system (TP-Link P9) and disabled the 5Ghz WiFi network until I had made connectivity to the SkyQ and then re-enabled it. IPv6 disabled wherever I can.

Since I have done all of this, this had a significant impact on my Network stability.
