What is the sound like in general, I like the looks but was always unsure with the branding etc.and love it, reviews say it's not great at high volume but I've never found it to be an issue

I have one of these. I'm so pleased with it I've bought a couple more as gifts https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Anker-SoundCore...
Genuinely great sound, rock solid Bluetooth connection, great battery life (recharges via mini USB) and under 25 quid. Anker make a bunch of other good stuff AND have a slightly amusing name. I'd say you can't go wrong with one of these.

I have one similar to this already but cannot remember the name, the sound isn’t much cop and does distort on medium volume.Genuinely great sound, rock solid Bluetooth connection, great battery life (recharges via mini USB) and under 25 quid. Edit: it’s called a Juiceblock

I bought the original JBL Charge about 10 years ago and it has been used regularly ever since - decent enough volume for BBQ duties for example. The sound isn't as good as my non-portable, non-bluetooth Sonos One I have in the kitchen but it's definitely been worth the money so I would suggest trying the latest version.
When looking for stuff like this I usually head to John Lewis and have a play with a number of speakers side by side to see which performs best for your needs.

B&O A1
love mine, mines a first gen but the latest ones you can pair up as well
hard to believe that this level of sound quality can come out of such a small package

I have a Sonos Roam which sounds reasonable, a little bass heavy and the battery life could be better. Construction wise and connection wise it is excellent. The B&O A1 is possibly the best there is but is hard to find under £230. The JBL Charge 5 is great value and is somewhat rugged for outdoor use.

You are right the reviews for the JBL 5 are pretty decent, thanks for your recommendation on this one. Gassing Station | Home Cinema & Hi-Fi | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
