Hi all.

Any advice welcome. I've been wanting an LG CX 55, but on ebay these are currently sitting at £6-700. Are there any 'must have' models from the last few years which would come in budget? Picture quality is the main criteria. Thanks.

Just Googling, and it seems the CX replaced the C9. Does it perform as well picture wise, would you know? There's one on the bay at £550, but in Berkshire it would be an afternoon out, and £40 fuel. for £600 there is a CX55 with a few dead pixels, but FOC delivery.

I'd be buying the older one with a perfect screen over a newer one with dead pixels!

Keep an eye on here, there's a 55" currently with some slight issues for £350 - https://www.avforums.com/forums/tv-classifieds.198...

Not sure secondhand TVs are good value.

I agree. This obsession for oled is not worth it. There are so many good quality TVs, that are not OLED, you are far better sticking with one of those. All of the apps will work, the screen will be more than good enough, and it's unlikely to go wrong or have existing screen burn.

Just to conclude, we bought a second hand LG CX55 at the weekend. No issues, screen burn, missing pixels etc. With the stand and Magic Remote, for £600. Happy with that.

OLED is definitely a massive step up, I bought one about five years ago new, but expecting it to crap out (LG) I put five years extended warranty on it. No issues whatsoever!

I'd be gutted if I paid for extended warranty and it didn't fail hehe

You can get a new A1 for 600ish, which I think would be a better buy than a 5 year old CX.

Lacks the gaming features though if that’s an issue

Who said 5 years old? The CX IIRC came out in 2020, and is still on sale for circa double what I paid. The one we purchased is about a year old, with a guarantee until 2026.
