Ring doorbell setup won't work
Discussion
I'm trying to set up a 2nd gen Ring doorbell, I go through the app and get to the point where my mobile asks me to connect to the Ring wifi network, which I do. The central light spins white and the app on my phone then says "connecting to your ring doorbell" but it just doesn't go any further.
I've double checked and my phone is connected to the Ring network.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Yep- they can be pretty crap setting up. Our is a couple of years old and I dread it being disconnected as it can be a pain to reconnect. Same for the optional chime.

Ring doorbells need a strong WiFi signal, they are pretty crap in that respect, even if your phone will connect in the same location, the doorbell may not.
That's been my experience, I'm told the newest ones are better though. Setups always a been a black art of near instant or try 15 times though, with no rhyme or reason. They all seem to get there in the end though, sometimes with calls to the ring Yankees helpline So I'm wondering whether it is my phone now, because the replacement they've sent out is also the same.....
However, I also got a TP-Link C200 camera, which also involved connecting to its own wifi to complete the set up, and that was absolutely fine.
My Ring app just keeps saying "connecting to your ring doorbell" and it's doing nothing, the doorbell itself just has a white long going round.
Basically, I go through the set up and get to the point where it wants to connect me to the doorbell's wifi. The phone says "connection successful" but my phone is still on my home wifi. I navigate to my phone's network settings, switch over to the Ring network which the doorbell has created (it then says connected but unable to provide internet), I go back to the app and click continue and it just sticks at where I am now.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
edit - also, if I click the X at the top right of the Ring app and say "cancel setup", nothing happens, it just goes back to the same "connecting to your video doorbell" screen.
I'm far from a technophone but this is frankly stupid.

Is it wired or battery?
Vaguely remember seeing something on YouTube where they had purchased a wired ring to take power off the old doorbell to power the ring but it wasn't the usual kind of doorbell abs didn't put out enough power for the ring.
Thus it wouldn't move on to next stage of setup.

Phone is a Google Pixel 6 Pro. Yes, may clear the app cache and all data, uninstall and try again when the replacement replacement comes!
Oddly, Ring said they'd arranged courier collection today but they haven't arrived.....!
Send them back the first dud then you mind end up with 2 working ones if it’s just your app!Oddly, Ring said they'd arranged courier collection today but they haven't arrived.....!
Also, isn’t there something about maybe needing your router to try a different channel in sims cases

I had a similar problem when trying to set up a Daikin air con unit. In the end it was a WiFi signal strength problem. The unit would actually work on the weak wi-fi but wouldn’t allow setup. I took a wifi hotspot to the aircon unit so there was a strong signal by the unit. Most people wouldn’t have one of these, so either move the router / wifi unit nearer the doorbell or remove the doorbell and move it near the wifi to set it up . Then put it back. (assuming your 2nd unit isn’t faulty)
