Hi all.

We're planning to replace our rather old Yamaha soundbar and are considering the Sony HT-A9 speaker system. Does anyone here have any experience of this system they can pass on?

Thanks.

I haven't seen or heard one, but from looking at the website etc, I (personally) wouldn't buy it.
4 speakers which are more than a foot high (313mm) , each of which needs mains power.
No stats on website (frequency response etc), main drive unit looks to be about 3 inch (again no information on website), so I doubt it will go down below 100 Hz (but could be wrong). Upward firing drive unit to give psuedo Atmos.
Lots of vague information on sound mapping etc, but no real detail.
Subwoofer not included and (IMHO) they are both too expensive for what they are.
I haven't been in the hi-fi business for a couple of years, so am reluctant to offer product advice as my knowledge is getting out-of-date. If you are looking to get a something good and are willing to spend that sort of money, I would see if you can get a demo of the B&O Stage which i have heard and think is very good.

One you need to go and test. I think it is clever stuff over out and out quality of sound but with digital system it can sound better than is should. Most reviews by owners like it a lot.
