Hi guys, I have an old MF A3.2 integrated, that I use as a power amp with a NAD C658 streamer, driving Sonus Faber Cremona M floorstanders.

This leads to a warm and musical system that is pretty laid back, but I can't help but think that my 20 year amp could use a refurb, including new capacitors .

I'd like to find out if this is worth doing on an amp worth about 500 quid, or whether it's just worth retiring the old girl for a dedicated power amp. It would be a shame, as I love both the way the amp sounds and looks; but it seems to have lost some mid range attack, and the bass seems warmer with time. Also a slight buzzing when I turn it on.

Anyone know a someone who knows about this stuff? I am London based.

Nice speakers (and amp).

I like MF equipment and the house sound a lot, although don’t have any anymore (have an ATC amp now).

The man you need is John Sampson of JS Audio, he is ex-MF and can do repairs and upgrades at a decent cost. Nice chap to deal with too. He’s based in Coulsdon, Surrey.

If you’re using the MF as a power amp I’m guessing you must be using the pre-amp in the NAD streamer.

Servicing aside, I’d be tempted to use the line out from the NAD into an input on the MF and give that a try.

Thank you, I will try that again. I had it connected that way originally, and haven't experimented with it again, so can't remember how it sounded. The MF is currently operating in HT Bypass mode, so amp only. Even volume control is done by the NAD.
