We've had a Gen2 Sonos One delivered here as a Christmas pressie, due to my wife asking me what I wanted and being a bit stressed at that moment in time so said that'll do. Possible regret now though.

I was under the impression that the Gen2 did bluetooth but now I'm not so sure. The blub mentioned bluetooth as a new addition so I assumed that it "did" bluetooth, ie I could play stuff from my phone as with other bluetooth speakers. It seems this may be wrong after a quick Google. Anyone know about this please?

Do you use Android or an iPhone?

If you have an iPhone then Airplay is a much better option than Bluetooth anyway.

It doesn't. You need a Move or a Roam for bluetooth.

Does the Sonos One (Gen 2) support Bluetooth playback?

No, the Sonos One (Gen 2) doesn’t support Bluetooth playback. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is just so the speaker can communicate with your device during set up.

From what I recall, you can set your phone up as a library on the sonos app. That way you can just access it that way. Although it's been years since I tried it.

Better still it looks like you can stream it directly via WiFi. Well, you can on mine! I have the S1 app, which has been superseded for a while now.

No

But they do work well as a streaming player from any accounts you use on your phone anyway.

Ah, ok that’s not the news I wanted. We’ve already got a gen 1 and thought this would simplify things in terms of phone music access. I loathe the Spotify phone app and don’t use Amazon music. I’m still mourning the loss of Google Play Music. I still haven’t found a music app that works as well as that did. I’ll just return the Gen 2 I think.
