Advice please re DAB radio
Discussion
Hi.
In the workshop we have a pretty basic DAB radio (Ocean Digital) which with the use of an ethernet lead, has worked well for a few years, usually listening to Planet Rock. It will play many different channels (possibly 100s or more).
About 6 months ago we suddenly couldn't receive Planet Rock but could receive anything else. This lasted for 2 or 3 days before it suddenly returned.
Fast forward to about a week ago, the same thing happened again and it still will not tune into that station. When choosing it, it will very briefly (1 or 2 seconds) try to connect and then say "Stopped (Invalid URL).
Any help would be appreciated.
Andy.

Re the ethernet, (showing my limited knowledge here) when we first bought this radio, it wouldn't receive that station. A friend asked another who was much more knowledgeable, and he said that's what we needed, and yes, it then worked straight away.
When the radio is in use, if the ethernet cable is unplugged, it stops receiving signal.

errr . . . sounds like you have a model with DAB + internet radio . . . so don't unplug the ethernet? When the radio is in use, if the ethernet cable is unplugged, it stops receiving signal.

^^^ this. You are listening to the radio over the internet, not DAB.Sounds like the station has moved and your radio doesn't know about it. Is it only this one station with the problem?
Thanks for your replies.
From spending what seems like much too long trying to get our heads around this, it would appear that Planet Rock is only available within approx 90% of the country. Our location, East Devon, has questionable reception for this radio station at the best of times and would appear to have gotten worse.
Thanks

OP you are confusing things.
DAB radio is broadcast and picked up via an aerial, yes some areas cannot get a signal, you may need an external DAB aerial to get a good signal. Some older DAB radios do not get the newer DAB+ stations.
Internet radio is streamed over your broadband. You are using an ethernet cable for this but WiFi can also be used if your receiver has it. Has nothing to do with the DAB broadcast.
From you posts it appears you are streaming Planet Rock via the internet, you need to check the settings on your radio.
Some old internet radio receivers can go 'end of life' and are no longer supported, mainly due to no available updates to the latest required firmware/software.
