Just a bit of advice to anyone who has extended warranty/insurance. Use it!

I’ve just had my LG OLED replaced after 4 years 11 months and 27 days, absolutely no quibble from Domestic and General. A fault appeared recently which I reported to D&G, they sent a local TV engineer round to assess it and take some photos. On the evening that they came round they deemed it a write off. It suffered a small cluster of dead pixels on the left hand side of the screen and minor screen burn/retention.

Initially the replacements they offered were pretty rubbish only offering 3 sets (on basic A series OLED, and a couple of naff LED) all of which were worth far less than the set they replaced. Anyway a quick call to the replacement team and they added a few more options plus some upgrades at an additional cost to ourselves. Anyway I opted for the latest C2 and it was delivered to my door yesterday.

It’s a big upgrade in terms of tech and the quickness of the OS is night and day compared the old one (2017 E7), the only issue I have is it doesn’t sound as good as the E7 had a built in sound bar which sounded great all thing’s considering. So I’m now on the hunt for a soundbar.

Best thing about it I still get to keep the original TV which has been passed onto a relative as it still works fine excusing the minor issue above.

That's great - from which retailer did you purchase the TV from originally?

It’s a mystery why anyone would buy a high end tv without an extended warranty when John Lewis or Richer Sounds include them as standard. I’d bought a second hand Sony TV for about £3-400 with 2 years RS cover left on it that died with a few months left.

Once they’d confirmed the fault I got about £900 towards a nice OLED LG.

Have they changed the rules - they used to specifically say the warranty wasn't transferable? Or did you just mumble when asked!

Costco/JL/RS always best to buy from for these extended warranties
Just completed a 6 year guarantee claim on a Denon AVRX2300, got the original value back. Unfortunately there are no equivalent similarly priced optiosn so had to stump up another £250 and get the 2700H
