Bedroom projector
Discussion
About to redecorate my bedroom and looking into getting a projector rather than screwing a TV to the wall.
Already seen the availability of Samsung smart projectors with built in Freeview etc but happy to use a firestick to combat this not being on others.
Anyone have any advice or suggestions of what best to go for? or is a TV the answer?
Only watch TV in the bedroom after dark so daylight is not an issue.

Main issue with using a projector vs a TV (in any setting) is that to get decent sound you need a separate speaker system; but if you can overcome that I'm a big advocate for using a projector, especially if you want a big picture on a relative budget. I have a little mini projector I bought almost 10 years ago that I used to have set up in my bedroom at my last place (I've moved overseas so its in storage now). It was hooked up to an old Sony 5.1 home cinema system and my xbox and it worked a treat. In dark/near dark conditions it really performed exceptionally well for its 2013, $250 price tag, but it was a low-lumen unit so in anything less that near dark rooms it was pretty impossible to see anything.Already seen the availability of Samsung smart projectors with built in Freeview etc but happy to use a firestick to combat this not being on others.

ETA you also need to plan carefully with where the projector can sit vs where you would usually be watching content from vs the size of picture that you want.

Added bonus with an ALR screen of being watchable in any light condition bar direct sunlight.

My UST projector has better built in sound than pretty much any TV I've ever come across, still no replacement for 5.1 but it's not terrible by any stretch.

Is that LG's UST? I heard the sound from it was decent; cost a pretty penny though? OP didn't specify budget but if he's got the cash, an Ultra Short Throw is a good solution as you don't have to worry so much about placement.
