So finally there’s an option to buy the puck? As you say, will it stream live tv? That’s the potential dealbreaker if it doesn’t.

Edit - a considerable number of live free view channels listed here - https://www.cordbusters.co.uk/sky-stream-box-list-...

Because they never write just Stream, it’s always Sky Stream

If a £20 fire stick can Stream live Sky sports in 4k from a dodgy IPTV service with no buffering then this should have zero issues (so a “friend” tells me) with live tv , assuming your internet is good enough.

I have ordered a Stream Box and will report back.
I do know it's a saving of 40 quid a month.

Meaning you're moving from Sky's satellite service? I logged into my Sky account and can't see how to switch, only how to order the new service

I would definitely be interested it this. I have had a few reception issues and I think its because of a tree that has grown over the years. Moving the dish isnt going to be easy either. But with gigabit broadband, this could be perfect, but I want to see its capabilities first and make sure you aren't losing out on something.

I posted on the sky deals thread.

I am on a good contract now but not allowed a dish so this seems good. Going to call and see if I can port across.

They do a month to month or 18 months, you can only fast forward ads on the 18 month version. So I imagine I have to re-contract, hopefully I'll get the same discounts.

It will be as ropey as glass no doubt. I'd be avoiding it and using Now TV instead.

Does that include HD channels currently extra on Sky?

Seems you're at the mercy of a new product. No discount on anything "because it's a different system"...

Anyway, my package (Signature, sports, HD, UHD, Netflix premium, Sports, Cinema) is currently £46, to match it to Steam it's £76 on 18 months or £83 on month-to-month.

Downgrading to what I need, Signature, Sports, HD and Netflix standard is £55/18months £60/1month

Upfront is £0/18months £40/1month

For me, I only need sport for F1. I know i can use NOW TV, but generally I don't watch it live, so it's useless to me. Stream will allow me to ... stream it when I want. There are 4 months off of F1, the sport package is £27/month, so I can save £162 over 18months (well, 3 years divided by 2). Which makes it cheaper to do month to month and manage my sports contract.

It's still more for less. But means no dish. I told them I'd think about it, so wonder if I'll get a call/email with an offer...

potentially interested in this. I live in an old tenement flat and we have a communal dish on the roof, so currently stuck just with old sky hd in 1 room (would be too much work to have had multi room installed)

I actually quite like the old HD box/ system and it’s been pretty solid for us, so wonder if I can add a stream box to my existing account to use in the bedroom?!? or might have to upgrade the old HD box and get 2 stream boxes

Hasn’t solved the big issue I quit dish $ky because of.

I just want to know I am paying the best price for whatever I am getting. Not £5 more or less than my neighbour, just a transparent pay structure that ensures I pay the best price.

I’ve just gone through the link in the OP, £76 pm for an 18m entertainment and sports package. Then went through the first hit on Google and ended up at anywhere between £46 pm and £69 pm for what appeared to be the same thing, with a bit of difference for multiscreen. And how, in this day and age they have the gall to charge for uhd separately is beyond me.

I haven’t got the patience, would rather look into “loaded” fire sticks as at least they nail their dishonest colours to the mast.

I now have it installed and running.
Picture is superb. EPG works fine. Apple+, Netflix, Amazon, Paramount+and Disney all installed and working.
Not very fussed about recording so won't miss it and as I said the saving of very nearly 500 quid is a big bonus.
The one thing I didnt remember to think to ask about was my grandfather rights to F1hd so I expect I've lost that.
However as F1 is as boring as fk not fussed one way or the other.

All those apps are available via streaming directly through smart TVs or other devices - what other value are you getting from Sky if not subscribing to the premium channels/using record functionality?

In writing that, I'm wondering why I've got the lot for another 12 months or so! laugh

How do the bitrates for each channel compare between satellite and stream ?
