It's pretty easy to scroll through receivers on amazon, but i thought it would be best to ask here for any recommendations. max £20-30? (or less ideally)

the receiver is going to be used on a 30 year old midi hifi which still sounds really good.
Sole purpose of this is so i can play music off my (or other peoples) phones, or digital radio from the UK or another country.
It'll connect via the L-R phono at the back of the hifi unit.

I don't want something expensive/very HIFI...but at the same time i don't want to take the gamble and buy one of these unknown brands that might end up having some kind of flaw/interference that might give the sound some kind of hum or hiss.

My son has one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bluetooth-Streaming-Wirel... hooked up to an old Denon stack system driving some KEF Coda 7 speakers. Sounds excellent. Couple of mates use the same unit. All very happy. Good online feedback from other users too thumbup

I'd have suggested a 2nd hand Chromecast Audio, but a quick search shows that they're going for more than twice their original price;

I have one in the shed - you are welcome to it for £0

(only downside is I cannot test it)

I’ve got both the Logitech and esinkin versions. Both work exactly the same and I can’t tell the difference, only possible differentiation is the Logitech range seems a little further. Both are very good and have transformed my 78’ pioneer SA blue line and technics amp from relics to daily usable bits of kit.

That's good to know, I almost bought the cheaper one but this was to replace an even cheaper still one which only lasted a few month and I couldn't be arsed with the hassle of having to buy a third one.... hehe

For those with the Logitech one... how does this connect into the Hifi?

our hifi has phono outputs at the back. at the front it has the large 6.35mm chunky jack (for if you want to plug in headphones for example).

You need inputs, not outputs.

They come with male RCA to male RCA leads (iirc), you might need twin RCA to 3.5mm jack adapter if you hifi only has a 3.5 aux input.

Post a photo of the back of it.

The phonos on the back could be either inputs or outputs - as above, a model number or photo would be handy, however you want an input to plug your Bluetooth doohickey into. If the sockets are only outputs then you're stuffed!

The 6.35mm jack on the front is a headphone output and so definitely no good.

Bought it and it works. I actually got it from Currys, same price as amazon, but its actually in stock. Works fine, though it seems as though our 25-year old midi hifi isn't so good.
L speaker works, but has distortion/crackling
R speaker works, but even worse distortion and sounds quieter. (ofc i'm aware it's nothing to do with the bluetooth receiver, undsure whether speaker, cables or the hifi)
