Looking for some advice- I currently have a set of Kef 5005 surround speakers & a BK xls200 sun running through a Sony DN 1080 av amp & it sounds pretty good for both movies & music.

I have the upgrade bug though, so I’m looking at a pair of LS50s (original or meta) to use as the front pair.
Some of the stuff I’ve read online says they’ll be crap as av fronts & some say they are excellent.

Before I purchase, does anyone use them as part of an av system?

Yes, they’re absolutely fantastic.

Currently running LS50 Meta fronts, LS50 centre, T101 rears and BK Gemini 2 sub. All plumbed in to an Anthem MRX510. Really impressive for AV but also excellent for music (I use PlexAmp cast to a Chromecast Audio).

Used to have the original LS50 for fronts prior to the Meta, but our cat destroyed one, so upgraded to the Meta. To be honest I can’t tell much difference.

Prior to that I was an Acoustic Energy fan, but the KEFs are far superior.

(Borrowed Metas while I waited for mine in black to come in to stock)

Many thanks for that, really helpful.

My main concern was the AV amp having enough power for the Ls50's, but i think they should be fine. Only one way to find out!

If it doesn't, then you can always upgrade the amp....

I'm using a pair of LS50 metas as a conventional hi fi, driven by a NAD M10 V2 rated at 100W, and they are more than loud enough in a big room.
