I'm looking to add two floor-standing speakers, primarily for music, into a new games room we've just built. The room is large (c. 45ft x 22ft) so I need something with a bit of power.

However, the nature of the room (and the requirements of my wife) means that aesthetics are quite important too - ideally something that isn't a modern black block!

This is way over budget, but would be ideal:

Something around the £5k mark would be feasible.

Not heard it but would be fun getting a demo.

The specs seem generous

Power amplifiers
1 x 400 watt class D for bass
2 x 200 watt class D for midrange
2 x 200 watt class D for fullrange
2 x 150 watt class D for treble
Effective frequency range
33 - 23.000 Hz
Driver units
2 x 3/4” tweeters
2 x 1 1/2” fullrange
2 x 3” midrange
1 x 8” woofer
Cabinet principle
Bass-reflex

I'm not sure it'll be an easy find, as I don't think any floorstanders are particularly good looking, especially those you linked (IMO)

What about something like this https://www.richersounds.com/dali-rubicon-6c-walnu...

Bit more of a classy look to them

It's all personal taste but I think those B&Ws are some of the ugliest speakers ever built.

For "compact performance" I favour the Totem Tribe Tower. Less than a metre tall and around £5k. Choose black or white.

Contact VEX on here. He supplies Totem among other brands (I have some from him and they are very good). He’ll be able to recommend and supply something suitable.

Shahinian Obelisks - need plenty of power (decent current driving amplification) but will fill a large room.

It sort of depends on your listening style and I can only honestly go by what I have heard over the last couple of years. (Covid has prevented alot of listening)

Vibrant and Upfront - Klipsch
Neutral and tonnally stunning - Totem
Laidback and mellow - KLH
Bassy and a sheer performance - GoldenEar

It will also depends on your room, its layout and furnishings to how any speaker sounds.

And then again what amp you pair them with as well. Some speakers are fussy, others really dont care that much.

HTH.

I have a set of B&W XT speakers, the 8s, 2s and centre. Second hand only now, but my wife is quite happy with them in the room.

Only speakers I buy

B&W & B&O are McDonalds by comparison.

Slightly different price bracket though, nice as they are.

The Quad Z series in high gloss rosewood passed the aesthetics test with my Mrs with the curved cabinets, so I got the Z3, and am very happy with them. The Z3 or Z4 may be possibilities for you. Other ideas based on the 'not a black box' aesthetics:
Opera Quinta SE have an interesting design.
JBL L100 for some retro style.
Duevel Venus is a very interesting design, no idea if they sound any good.
Triangle Signature Delta
Larsen 8.2
Unison Research Max 1
Revel F208
Wharfdale Elysian 2
Waterfall audio Victoria evo
Meridian DSP M6 Active Loudspeakers

Enjoy your searching.

Don't buy PMC. Gorgeous sound. Wilfully ugly.

Mine have been relegated to the TV room as Lady F hates them so much.

I have these - Gallo Acoustics Strada 2s with these stands

plus L&R Velodyne subs. They need some space between them and the rear and side walls, but once set up the clarity and detail is amazing.

With Gallo subs the speakers plus stands plus subs would come in around 3.5k.

I'll never have the room, haven't heard them and from what you've linked to, they won't be the style you want, but I love the idea and look of the Tannoy Legacy Arden
