Hi All

Hope everyone is as well as can be.

Looking to buy a pair of in ear wireless headphones for myself. Will have them on everyday at lease an hour a day commuting and at the gym 3 times a week. Have a pair of over ear wireless headphones and hate them want to go with the in ear ones but haven't a clue about them.

The Apple buds don't really appeal to me as they aren't in ear properly although they do score highly with the Which testers. Haven't really got much of a clue about the other manufacturers but I have heard good things about Beats and Bang&Olfesen.

Budget around £250 but can go higher - if it matters I have always been an iPhone user.

Any thoughts/experience shared I'd appreciate.

Cheers
CHR

I've got a two litre tub full of ones I've picked up off the floor at work.
Moral: get very well fitting ones!
No personal experience I afraid, happy with my on ear AKGs.

I have a wide array of headphones- Bower Wilkins PX7 through to cheap amazon wireless specials. I got airpods cheap (£70) from o2 and they are currently my ‘go-to’ headphones.

they are not the best sound quality in the world, but good enough. but the convenience of them is just brilliant! you pop them out the charging case, and they connect to your phone and off your go. I use them for music, podcasts and calls, just so simple. no faffing with cables just pop them in and away you go.

If i lost/ broke/ damaged them, I would replace immediately! one of the few bits of tech I would do this with. probably even upgrade to the ‘pro’s’ for better fit/ sound cancelling when i kill these ones off!

Depends on whether you want noise cancelling or not I guess.

I tried a set of WF-1000XM4 Sonys when they first came out recently and the sound was great but the noise cancelling I thought was poor. I swapped them for a set of the Bose in ear buds and the noise cancelling is much better but the sound not so precise. Guess it depends on what you value the most. The issue I found with the Sony and have with the Bose is the security of the fit. Its fine for walking but running would require a bespoke earpiece to be made in my view to keep them in place.

I've got a pair of Jabra in ears - I think model is 65?

They're under £100 for the ones I have, they do have more models - mine are very good from a sound quality perspective and do stay in well

Sennheiser MOMENTUM True Wireless 2, I have these and they are exceptionally good. They were £280 but are now £189 on their website.

I've got the jabra elites, sound lovely and the noise cancelling is great but I can't wear them, must have an allergy to the rubber but 10 mins of wearing them and my ears are pouring with liquid then the whole ear lining comes off like a snake skin a few days later.

Probably too much info but you know...

+1 for Jabra Elites. Mine are the 65 and while the battery in the case is decreasing now I've had them a few years and just about lasted long enough to do Welsh 3 Peaks. Use them cycling and too and they don't come out.

I love my Bose Quietcomfort headphones. They drown out the gym music and feel very secure.

I had the Jabra (elite sport) but after 6 or 7 pairs failed they offered me my money back.

The Sennheisers are a completely different league both fit and sound wise.

Have you tried the comply foam buds? I think the make them for any headphones and might help.

Airpod Pros are in ear. I've had a pair of normal Airpods as well. Running even with the normal Airpods was absolutely fine, if you have Apple shaped ears they don't move at all.

Thanks everyone- great feedback. Great to hear about the Jabra and Steinnhouser - brands I am actively looking at. Really hard to pick a pair when you can't try before you buy.

Really appreciate all input so far - thanks all.

I went the other way. I wanted the Bose in ears since they were announced and waited bloody ages for them. got them and the sound was great and the N/C excellent...BUT.. I could never get them to fit correctly, I tried everything, all sizes and tricks but nothing worked, so the optimum sound just didn't happen and I couldn't wear them for long, also thought I would lose one or both as they weren't secure. I was pretty disappointed. So I then bit the bullet and ordered the Sony's, the sound is still brilliant, as above, maybe better than the BOSE, but the N/C isn't quite as good. But because the fit is far better, I use them a load more. The sound quality really is amazing.

Yeah so much depends on ear shape. I had a set of bespoke ear pieces made the slip over the bud in the end and now they are secure. I did the same with my previous QC20 too

I've never had any other Apple Earphone other than what they have delivered with the phones.

When it comes to buying a decent set of in ear wireless headphones are the Apple Air pod pro's necessarily the best to go for? How do people who maybe have more than one pair of headphones find say Sennheiser to the Apple ones?

I have had over ten pairs of wireless earbuds and I can honestly say AirPod Pro's are the best by far as an all-round prospect, and especially if you use an iPhone and/or MacBook. Convenient, great sound, comfy and good noise cancellation, I literally don't leave the house without them in my pocket.

Having said that, AirPod 2 probably be appearing in spring with (it's rumoured) IP68 waterproofing, better battery, better sound.
