My 50" Panasonic plasma TV has been a reliable bit of kit and has not needed any repair in 14yrs of ownership.
However, the fans are now a bit noisy and I fancy a spangly new smart TV.
The room is 24ft X 20 and the TV is at 45° across one corner. As viewing distances are over 14ft a bigger screen would be nice.
I popped over to AV forums for a bit of a browse and quickly realised that I was way out of my depth.
I went into Currys for a browse, and yes I know they are all turned up to maximum brightness and show a loop of 4k quality output, but I was seriously impressed with just how good all of them are.
We watch mainly broadcast TV and streamed content from catch up aps and Amazon. The room is fairly bright in the daytime.
On a budget of up to £1000ish, I'd welcome any suggestions as to what I should buy.

Thanks for the suggestions so far

Because the room is fairly bright, I thought that a QLED screen would be better than an oled one, is that not the case?

Unfortunately, testers in a popular consumer mag don't seem to rate that particular Samsung model

,"This is a poor attempt that besmirches the QLED moniker. ‘QLED’ used to equal quality, but cheaper models have seen standards slipping. The QE65Q70AATXXU is one of the worst QLED TVs we’ve tested

To the OP, I was in a similar situation last year when I replaced my 12 year old 42 inch Panasonic plasma.

It had given sterling service, the picture was always amazing. It was one of the highly regarded models at time of purchase.

Anyway, I was keen to stay with the brand and started looking for a Panasonic OLED. I ended up with a 55 inch TX-55 GZ950. As this was effectively 'last years model' I paid about £1250 for it, rather than the £1800 for 'this years model' which was really rather similar in every respect.

Considering the fantastic picture quality and (hopefully) the reliability from a Panasonic I'd be inclined to buy another.

Having taken a very brief look on google, it should be possible to get a 65 inch Panasonic OLED for c. £1650. (AO.com)

I know this represents a bit of budget creep but it might be a shrewd investment, as was your previous Panasonic!
