We recently upgraded from Sky HD to Sky Q and find that the projector no longer works.

The set up is
Sky Q -> Denon AVR1912 -> HDMI Splitter -> (10m HDMI cable) -> Optoma HD33

Is anyone aware of what component may be causing the issue or is it a matter of plugging stuff in and out and process of elimination.

Blu-ray via a PS3 as a source still works fine on the projector via the Denon.

Is Sky Q set to 4K, projector is only 1080p/HD?

Its a process of elimination i am afraid.

First connect the projector HDMI directly into the back of the SkyQ box - does it work?

Change the out resolution down to its lowest - does it work
If no, check lead and projector for faults.
If yes.
Slowly increase the resolution one step at a time until it stops working.
At point it fails step back down one level and start to re-introduce the rest of the hardware.

No, we don't have the UHD package

Q box might still be set to 4K res, you need to change it in the settings. Do what vex suggested above and plug it direct into the PJ and go from there

As said before it’s a process of elimination, but usually ends up being the cable, the splitter or the settings in the sky box (which are notoriously fickle with hdmi). If you try the cable direct into the back of the pj and change the settings and it still doesn’t work, try a shorter/ different cable.

Well, after a bit of plugging in n out and switching the amp between ps3 and Sky box using the AV amp remote the projector started to work. It must be a handshaking issue that needs a bit of source switching on the amp to get the two things in sync.
