Sony STR-DN 1080 listen to music with TV off

Hi folks,

I've got a Sony STR-DN 1080 AV amp connected by the arc hdmi channel to a Sony TV.

Problem I'm having is that whenever I send any audio to the amp (Spotify connect etc) it's sending an image to the TV and switching the TV on.

If I switch the TV off then the amp goes off.

I just want to be able to listen to music with the TV off.

And I don't want to change anything to make it more of a faff to use the audio etc when watching TV either.

Suggestions?

This sounds like a TV setting needs to be changed - somewhere in the source / input settings, there will be an option to turn off HDMI control (or similar, not sure how Sony will term it)

I have an older but otherwise very similar version of this amp and it is related to the HDMI CEC option, both on the TV and the amp. You can switch it off and they will operate independently, but you will probably have other things not happen that you have been used to.

I changed the setting so that switching tv off doesn't switch amp off.

Seeing as all my video is routed through TV and only audio comes back to the amp it shouldn't be too irritating, fingers crossed.
